Report cards went home today!
If you have not yet picked a time for student-led conferences for Thursday April 5th, please make sure you do so!
Since Easter is this weekend I had a small Easter egg hunt in class! The students were very good at finding the eggs, but there were a few tricky ones that were hard to find!
The silent dance also look amazing today! It was great to see students being inclusive and having a bunch of fun!
In class:
Math:
Today we looked at congruent figures (two figures that are the same shape and size). Students had to also look more closely at the angles and side lengths of figures to tell if they were truly congruent. The stretch your thinking for these questions are really great brain teasers and I am excited to see how they do with them!
UOI: Government
Students worked in their groups to begin creating arguments and evidence to support their form of government. Some students are finding it hard to get supportive evidence, they are realizing that a lot of articles show bias for one type of government over others.
Students will continue this research Tuesday and we will have debates on Wednesday next week!
Language:
We looked at the next story we will be doing for our Literacy Circle: Shannen and the Dream for a School. I wanted to see what students already knew about Residential School and Aboriginal/Frist Nations peoples. I was really impressed to see how much they already knew as we did a mind map on the board.
We then read the prologue together and made some predictions. The books and literacy circle novel will be sent home as homework started Tuesday April 9th.
