Welcome back parents and students!
Today was a great first day back. It was lovely to see students and hear about their various March Breaks. I was even more impressed that they completed all their homework and were eager to learn!

Here are some events coming up soon:
Wednesday March 28- Casual Day
Thursday March 29- Austim Awareness day- wear blue
Friday March 30-April 2- Easter weekend, no school Friday and Monday
Tuesday April 3- Easter Spirit Day
Wednesday April 4- Summer Uniform begins
Thursday April 5- Student Led Conferences

Today in class:

Math:
Today we began our new unit into Transformational Geometry! Students first reviewed the lesson they completed over the break about Grid systems. When looked into the Grade 5 curriculum about  Coordinate systems. It was a breeze for the students as they were familiar with coordinate systems since we did graphing before the break!

Language:
Today students were to create a small story about their March Break. The twist was that they needed to write it as if someone else was telling their story! They then drew a picture to match what they had written about. If this was not completed in class or recess it was sent home to finish.

UOI:Government
First we took a look at the articles that everyone brought in from over the break. The majority of the articles had to do with the United States but they were all different! Students paired up and talking about their article in depth and looked for similarities and difference between the politics they read about. The conversations that students were having really impressed me and showed me that they really want to learn more about our government and about other types of government within countries. We also created a dictionary of terms that students saw within their articles that needed further explanation.
