Good evening!

What a snowy morning we had! I hope everyone was able to get to school, work and home safely! Though we did not have gym today, many students took advantage of the fluffy snow and got lots of exercise outside.

A note from Ms. Helen, our Admissions Coordinator - As you are aware, the re-registration season is upon us and we have recently sent home packages with your child(ren). We value your loyalty and commitment to our school community and would love to continue our partnership by offering priority enrollment for our current SJA families. We kindly ask that you take a moment to review your financial statement and complete the information in the package and make any necessary changes to your place of residence, employment, email changes or any medical information that the administration should be aware of. Please be aware that in order to secure your child’s enrolment, it is imperative that you submit your re-enrollment package and fees no later than February 12, 2018 at 4:00 PM. After this date, all available grade-level spaces will be open to our families on waitlists who will then have the opportunity to secure any vacant positions.
Please bring in re-registration forms as soon as possible to ensure your child's enrollment.  Teacher requests are also taken into consideration based on the date of re-registration.

**If you have a particular teacher in mind, please do not hesitate to make a request and we will do our best to meet it.**

Math:
We began a new Unit of Data Management. With that came a per-assessment of their prior knowledge. Students will be looking at how to create, read and interpret various types of graphs.
Today we learned about how different graphs can help you represent data in various ways. We can use these graphs to help us infer and analyze results. Two words we learned today were infer (to gather information) and range (the difference between the greatest number and the least number). Students were also told to use a ruler to help them line up the data from both the x and y axis.

Language:
Today we took a small break from language so that we could give more time to our UOI's and Math.

UOI:
Today concluded our unit on Biodiversity. Students completed their last summative and were to send their commercials to me for grading and so that we can present them tomorrow or Friday.

Today also began our new Unit on the Human Body: Who are we?
A short video was used to show students that our bodies are made up of tons of cells, that these cells then make up tissues, which make up organs. We looked at how our body is made up of different systems and how these systems need to work together. Within these systems we looked at how there are various organs that are needed for the operation of the system. Students first task is to make their own handout of a specific system (either cardiovascular, nervous, digestive, or reparatory). Ms. Khan and I created an example handout for students to follow that was about the musculoskeletal system. These handouts will include the function, concepts, diseases, operations and other important information of their system. This task is to be done in class as it is a group project.
