Good evening parents and students!

It was great to see some many parents attending our Student-Led Conferences! If someone was unable to make it, or has more questions, please feel free to email me at cwalls@stjudesacademy.com

Tomorrow is the school's photo shoot. Students are expected to be in full uniform with academic tie. When the photographers are present students are asked to act normally and not look at the camera unless asked to. Come looking your best!

IN CLASS:

Math:
Today we took up the answers for our Quiz review. Most students did quite well, but the main area for improvement was to do with transformations. Knowing this, I then gave students extra work for in class so that they could have tons of practice! I sent home a review sheet for students so that they can use it to study for their quiz tomorrow.

Language:
We continued with our chapter comprehension questions and almost 100% of the students were able to answer correctly! Let's aim for 100% tomorrow!
Next week we will be having our OWA pre-assessment and will start DRA's.

UOI: Government
Today we had our debate!! Many students were able to use their communication skills and create strong, persuasive arguments for and against types of government. To make things more interesting, near the end of the debate with was the whole class versus Ms. Walls to see who could make better arguments. Overall I would say it was a tie!

You can see that as the debate heated up they began to create a circle and become more involved!

We also had time to start looking at the different levels of Canadian Government. First we discussed who was in charge of our different levels of Government. We then watched two videos about the life of a parliament member  and one that specified the different levels of government. Then talked about what each level (federal, provincial, municipal) has as some of their responsibilities. We will continue this topic about Canadian government for the next few days so that they are prepared for the Quiz next Tuesday.

NOTES:
