Class Schedule

Friday 26 January 2018

26/01/2018

Finally Friday!
I can tell that the students are ready for the weekend. I know that Wednesday's trip took a lot of their energy.

Math:
Today we looked at Multiplying whole numbers with 0.1, 0.01, 0.001. Students first talked in pairs about how they thought the number would change (become smaller or larger) when being multiplied by a decimal. Students were able to understand that the number would be getting small, therefore the decimal had to move towards the left. We also went over the longer way to find the answer by using expanded multiplication so that students have an understanding of why we can use this shortcut of moving the decimal over spaces to the left.

Language:
Overall, students did very well with their spelling tests today and have gotten their tests back to be signed over the weekend.
We spent our language time finishing up our rough copies today! Good copies are to be done over the weekend. Students can either type and print their good copy or write it by hand in cursive. Once they have finished their good copy they are to fill out a self-assessment. By doing this, they will be able to honestly judge their own work and see what areas may need more attention or editing.
Students are also to complete their literacy circle work for the weekend. They will be commenting on Chapters 5,6,7,8. I can tell the students are enjoying the novel as they like to talk about what they read while waiting to go to the morning assembly. It is great to see them taking a real interest!

Have a lovely, relaxing weekend!
