Class Schedule

Monday 22 January 2018

22/01/2018

Good Evening!

Math:
We started off with our math quiz, I have marked most of the quizzes and hopefully the students will get the results tomorrow. Tomorrow, we will continue the second-half of decimals specifically multiplying and dividing decimals.

Language:
Today students participated in literacy circles for the novel Hatchet. Students worked really well within their groups and most had thorough answers. In both grade 5 classes we were finding that students are needing a reminder of what is expected of each role. Here are some tips for students:

  • Literary critic: students practice reading at home with enthusiasm, tone and pauses.
  • Discussion moderator: create only higher level questions using the chart
  • Summarizer: make sure the summary is organized (beginning, middle, and end) and has all important details
  • Connector: try to create higher-level connections

Students were also given their spelling tests to be signed.

UOI: Biodiversity
Students were given time to research about their endangered species for the summative A World Without. For homework, students are to finish their research and organizer as well as brainstorm ideas for their posters. Tomorrow I will check their work before they move on to the actual poster.

Today students had two indoor recesses due to the weather. They have all become sculptors with the play dough that I had brought in. Here are some pictures!

Reminders:

SKI TRIP WEDNESDAY:

  • Bring a change of clothes
  • Wear warm casual clothes
