Tired Thursday, 
I could tell that students are still recovering from the trip yesterday. I know I am sore all over!

 Math:
 Today students looked at what happens when we divide decimals by 10,100,1000, and 10000. Students found that there was a similar trick to knowing how to find the answer. Using our knowledge of how to multiply, students figured out that when dividing the decimal place moves to the left. 

Additionally, I found that many students were struggling with questions pertaining to measurement so we had a short reminder on how many millimeters, centimetres, and decametres are in a metre, as well as how many metres are in a kilometre.

Language:
 Students were once again working on their speeches in class. Some students are almost done their rough draft and are working through the tough editing process. Once this is done in class tomorrow they are welcomed to take their rough draft home and create a good copy either by typing or writing in cursive.

UOI: Biodiversity
 Today we had a gallery walk in class and looked at all the persuasive poster the class had created. Once everyone had a chance to look at them, as a class, we thought of one star and one wish for each poster. A lot of stars talked about how detailed the information on the poster was. Some of the wishes were about design or lack of information about the endangered animal. As a class we voted and came up with 4 top winners. These winners, along with winners from the other grade 5 class will be posted outside the classroom and around the halls.

A note from Ms. Helen, our Admissions Coordinator - As you are aware, the re-registration season is upon us and we have recently sent home packages with your child(ren). We value your loyalty and commitment to our school community and would love to continue our partnership by offering priority enrollment for our current SJA families. We kindly ask that you take a moment to review your financial statement and complete the information in the package and make any necessary changes to your place of residence, employment, email changes or any medical information that the administration should be aware of. Please be aware that in order to secure your child’s enrolment, it is imperative that you submit your re-enrollment package and fees no later than February 12, 2018 at 4:00 PM. After this date, all available grade-level spaces will be open to our families on waitlists who will then have the opportunity to secure any vacant positions.
Please bring in re-registration forms as soon as possible to ensure your child's enrollment.

A note from Ms. Bancud 

The system is now open to order Hot Lunch for February. Lunch orders are due Friday, January 26^th, 2018. After this date, our system closes and is unable to open for February ordering.  Please make sure your child is under the correct

• There are two options to pay for lunches. Cash and Freshbooks. 
• Shortly after completing your order, a Freshbooks invoice will be sent to your email.
• It may take one or two days to process your order to Freshbooks, so please be check your email diligently for the invoice.  
• We no longer accept cheque as a method of payment.
