Students were not use to a full day of learning after having so many different trips!!
A note
from our MYP Shakespeare Performers: Today, Thursday, May 10th, we would like
to invite to our SJA parents and guardians to attend our upper school theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet being hosted at the University of Toronto Mississauga MiST Theatre (3359 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, ON
L5L 1C6) for FREE! The
performance will begin at 6:30pm.
For your
enjoyment, SJA PYP teachers will be hosting a FREE SJA dance in the SJA auditorium for those children whose parents
are attending the show, so you can sit back and relax. The dance drop off will
begin at 6:00pm. For students whose parents are not viewing the performance,
they are welcome to join the dance for a cost of $15. Don’t miss out on seeing
your favourite SJA teachers boogie down!! Once again, the doors open at 6:00
and close around 8:30!
To reserve your tickets for the dance and
the theatre performance, please e-mail Kaitlin at reception@stjudesacademy.com. Limited tickets
are available and are available on a first-come first-served basis.
Please find additional details about the
performance and dance in the flyer attached.
Math:
Today we looked at how to measure circumference using string and a ruler. Students completed a quick measuring activity in class to see what group could find an object in the classroom with the largest circumference AND properly measure the circumference. I quickly learnt that students do not know how to use a meter stick!
UOI:Coding
In coding today we tried unplugged coding! We looked at pixels and how they are used to send information about which pixel should have colour or not. Students completed an activity that had them counting out code so that they could draw in the pixels and create full images. They then used this knowledge so to a small surprise activity!
Language:
Students had the oppotunity to have a gallery walk and look at the other art project ideas people had found. After having a discussion in class we narrowed it down to three potential projects to choose from (dream catcher, drum, goose painting). Students then created their own success criteria and material list for their artwork. These success criteria will be added to the rubric created for the final product.
